As a student Steffen started his own business in 1990 providing technical services for travel agencies. A few years later, his career led him to Partners Software, where he took over sales management and built up an international team. In 2000 he moved to Hamburg to join DCS GmbH, which soon became part of Sabre. Here he built up the mid-office company Travel Management Systems as Managing Director and was Director Business Development at Sabre Germany. Early on, Steffen, together with Jörg Hauschild and Marcus Haarmann, developed a vision for a mid-office system of the future for the travel industry. Together they founded Midoco in 2005.
Helmut studied business administration at the KFU in Graz and the BUES in Budapest. After a two-year adventure as an ostrich breeder in Portugal, he started in 2001 as an IT Consultant at Andersen Consulting/Accenture. In 2007 he started his Travel IT career as Sales Director at Amadeus Austria. In 2014 he moved internally to Amadeus LATAM in Sao Paulo. Since the beginning of January 2016, Helmut has been a partner in Umbrella AG, where he is responsible for building up global sales and cooperation within the company.
Wolfgang began his career in travel sales in 1988 at Aerocontact, a tour operator in Vienna specializing in North Africa. After 4 years he changed to Panorama Reisen, also in Vienna, as a travel agent for business trips. From 1999 Wolfgang then worked for 15 years at Amadeus Austria, where his responsibilities included managing the support team and product launches. Wolfgang has been responsible for product management and the implementation of Umbrella Faces since 2014. During this time, he has already supported over 100 TMCs and travel agencies in the introduction of their profile management. Wolfgang lives and works in Pulkau, a pretty wine-growing village in northern Lower Austria.
Remo's professional career began at IBM in Zurich, where he was responsible for projects in the telecommunications sector for over 9 years. He is an application developer and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering from ZFH Winterthur. Remo started at Umbrella AG in July 2014. Since January 2017 he is responsible for the entire IT and software development. Remo lives in Kloten near Zurich. Besides software development, the technology fan is also interested in exciting things like SpaceX, cars and motorcycles.
Alice completed her apprenticeship as a travel agency specialist at Kuoni. In 1994, she moved to the independent travel agency Bachmann + Spitzer, where the later Umbrella AG founder Martin Bachmann was the managing director. Working with Umbrella NT Alice has been working with Umbrella AG in various roles. In 2001, Alice moved completely to Umbrella AG. Since 2019, she has been responsible for product management and the implementation of Umbrella.net and, together with Andrea Hofer, leads the support team.
Andrea completed her apprenticeship as a travel agency specialist at Kuoni where she first came into contact with the mid-office software, Umbrella NT, at the Galileo helpdesk in 1997. In 2000 she moved to Umbrella AG, where she spent almost 10 years building up the support and training team as an Operational Manager. From 2009 - 2019 Andrea made a long-standing detour into the digital learning area of a renowned software manufacturer. Andrea re-joined Umbrella AG in Spring 2019 and leads the support team together with Alice Schäffeler. Andrea lives near zurich, where she runs a small vinotheque with friends and teaches Pilates in her spare time.
Brigita grew up in Kenya and moved to India at the age of 19 where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in BSc Industrial Microbiology. She emigrated to Switzerland in 2012. As her "professional heart" was beating for something more interactive, she started a further course of studies in tourism in 2015. During this training she worked for one year as an intern in a business travel agency (ABB Intra AG). After graduating, she worked as a leisure travel consultant at ITS Coop Travel for almost two years before joining Umbrella AG in November 2018. Initially, Brigita worked on support for both products Umbrella.net and Faces, but in October 2019 she moved fully to the Faces team.
Sandra completed her training as a travel agent in 2002 at DERPART City Reisebüro in Düsseldorf in 2002. Afterwards she continued to work there as a travel agent at Reisebüro Hess. After an excursion to the reception desk at Robinson Club Esquinzo Playa on Fuerteventura in 2004, Sandra joined DERPART again. From 2005 on she worked as a shipping clerk at FCM/DER Business Travel for various implants at clients. Since the beginning of 2020, Sandra has been supporting Customer Support at Umbrella AG for the product Faces. Sandra's place of work is in Hilden at MIDOCO GmbH near Düsseldorf.
Susanne was practically born with the desire to travel. Early on, she and her parents went on faraway countries and discovery tours, which had a major influence on her choice of career. Susanne completed her 3-year apprenticeship at bta first travel AG in the business travel department. After successful completion, she remained loyal to the company and was given additional tasks in the technical area. After a 3-year detour to Globetrotter, also in the Business Travel plus Mice & Incentive division, Susanne moved to Umbrella AG. From the very beginning, Susanne has been fascinated by the versatile work with its insight into system technology backgrounds and the application of the acquired knowledge from the travel industry. Susanne can fully live out this passion when implementing Faces new customers in the international market.
Dave started his career with P & O Business Travel in London in 1988 where he worked through the ranks from trainee Reservations agent through to Senior Business Travel consultant working predominantly within their KPMG division.
After gaining further experience with Cassis Travel and Britannic Travel he returned back to P & O Business Travel in 1998 marrying his corporate travel experience with his love of software programming in his role as Senior Reservations Systems Analyst. Whilst at P & O he spent time initially working on their fares database but soon moved on to create and maintain many Sabre based solutions including the development of their Sabre Corporate Traveller front-end interface Panther.
In May 2006 Dave joined ALTOUR as their Manager of Product Development where he continued to develop Sabre based applications and robotic solutions as well as further expanding his skillset to co-develop their Intranet, including the development of their own bespoke Traveller profile solution which interfaced into Sabre as well as numerous other 3rd party applications. In March 2020 Dave joined the Umbrella Faces team as their Regional Manager UK & North America. Outside of work Dave loves spending time socialising with his family and friends, going on long walks and is a keen fan of Rugby and motorsport.
Joel did his apprenticeship as a travel agency specialist at Kuoni Reisen AG in the Zurich-Altstetten branch. After completing his apprenticeship, he continued to work at Kuoni in the seaside holiday department and was a contact person for various destinations and was also involved in apprentice training. In 2011 Joel joined HRG in the implant travel agency at Swiss Radio and Television and was involved in several major projects. Joel has been employed at Umbrella AG since May 2018 and is active in customer support and training.
Karin completed her apprenticeship as a travel agency specialist with an independent retailer in Effretikon. After her apprenticeship she changed to the travel agency Popularis, later to become Helvetic Tours. After a formative 15 years at Helvetic Tours, Karin moved to the then ITV, later to become TUI. In 2006, Karin played an active role in setting up ITS Coop Travel, before she more or less ended up in the IT management team at TUI by a lucky coincidence. In this position, Karin took over responsibility for the IT/support issues of TUI's retail employees and also worked for TUI as a freelancer. Karin has been part of the Umbrella Team since January 2020 and is involved in various tasks such as projects, support and training as an account manager.
Tülin came to aviation as a career changer and later to the business travel agency. She worked for Swissair Direct Sales, Swiss Agency Support, HRG Online & Direct and BCD Travel Sales & Account Management, among others. Tülin now has 20 years of experience in the travel industry and has been with Umbrella AG since December 2019.
Saskia completed her apprenticeship as a travel agency clerk at Private Safaris, a Kuoni subsidiary. Afterwards she caught up on her vocational baccalaureate in order to be able to start her studies in "Digital Business Management" at the University of Applied Sciences in Graubünden. Since May 2017, she has been working part-time in the support team and brings her knowledge from her studies directly into her work.
Karin completed her apprenticeship as a travel agency specialist at Reisebüro Bachmann + Spitzer AG. She soon specialised in finance and also worked for other companies as a freelancer in accounting, including several years for SRV. She got to know Umbrella NT very well at Reisebüro Bachmann + Spitzer AG and moved to Umbrella AG in 2000. In addition to internal accounting, she was responsible for accounting training and accounting support.
Jonas studied computer science at the University of Zurich. During his studies, he completed a 15-month internship at the software company LzLabs, where he wrote a Java framework to perform load tests of the company's own products. Jonas has been supporting the development team within Umbrella AG since October 2018.
Roland came to computer science as a career changer and now has over 14 years of experience as a software developer. He has worked mainly for Suva, UBS and Kuoni Destination Management. In 2012 he emigrated to Vitória in Brazil and opened a bistro there. In 2017 he returned to IT and started at Umbrella AG in January 2020.
